Tangguh Samudera Jaya (TSJ) was established in 1986 in conjunction with the issuance of the regulation by the Ministry of Transportation, which governed separation of stevedoring activity from shipping companies. At that time the company focused on serving vessels from Samudera Indonesia's vessel as its holding company.

Since 1994, we have been appointed and performed stevedoring activities, cargodoring and receiving/delivery activities in the wharf 303-305 of Tanjung Priok Port with a quay length of 450 meters equipped with 3 units of warehouses with a total area of 15,000 sqm and 50,000 sqm yard.

Starting in 2010, the pattern of cargo handling by Stevedoring Companies at Tanjung Priok Port has changed from the Terminal Operator (TO) system to the selected Stevedoring Companies. With this pattern, TSJ was chosen as one of the selected Stevedoring Companies to operate piers and fields 303-305 along with the change in Tanjung Priok Terminal 3 from a multipurpose terminal to an international container terminal. Since then TSJ began handling stevedoring activities on international container ships and continued to handle domestic break bulk and container vessels in Terminal 1 and 2 of Tanjung Priok Port.

The customers of international container vessels are Yang Ming, ANL, CTP, and Samudera Shipping Line. While customers break bulk vessels are; NYK Bulk & Project, Rickmers Linie, Inalum, Alken Line and some other cargo vessels.

TSJ has stevedoring equipment consisting of 2 Container Crane (CC) units, 2 units of Mobile Harbor Cranes (MHC), 10 units of Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane (RTGC), and 4 Reach Stacker (RS) units to serve international container customers.

To ensure quality of service and occupational health and safety, TSJ has been certified ISO 9001 certification since 1998, OHSAS 18001 certification since 2010, and Sistem Manajemen Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (SMK3) certification since 2020 and also security systems that have met the requirements and ISPS Code certification. In carrying out its activities, every cargo, facilities for customers and employees, and also handling equipment have been insured by terminal operator liability coverage.
